Brunelleschis Dome!

Well I can finally say I checked a big item off my bucket list today! Today I climbed to the top of the Duomo, it was a hike of 468 steps but it was so neat! You start by going up a regular staircase until you pop out at the top inside the cathedral directly at the base of the dome, you loop around the exterior of its base then head up MANY spiral stair cases until you reach the point where you climb to the center of the dome to climb to the base of the lantern! The coolest part was seeing how they integrated these stair cases into the structure of the dome! It was an amazing view from the top! You could see for miles! After living in Florence for 4 months there was no way I was going home without saying I climbed the Duomo. So it was a great success and tomorrow I plan on going into the baptistery and possibly even climbing the bell tower! The ticket you buy to climb the dome gets you admission into these attractions for the next 48 hours after you activate your ticket! So mission accomplished today and we will see what the next 17 days bring!
