It was a VERY fast week with my parents! But really all of my days go pretty fast now, but I would've taken them just a little bit longer.
We got back to Florence on Monday night around 10:45.... and it was raining. Since we came from Pisa and were coming from the train station which is only a 5 minute walk from my apartment I told my parents we were going to walk it. I haven't experienced much rain here at all! And anytime it does rain is on the weekends when I have been away. Well lets just say Brian wasn't very happy walking in the rain. And now its off season here for the tourists, so restaurants don't really have closing times here, its just when they are no longer busy and as long as its after 10 they will close when they want to. So since it was raining AND its off season, not many places were open to grab some food. We tried the central market which is suppose to be open till midnight, and they were even shutting down. So we went near the duomo because I knew of a few places that were always open late, but I just have never eaten there! We went to Mister Pizza which my friends here have said is amazing! It was pretty good! All I have to say is thank god we found some food because Brian was hangry!
Tuesday Morning we got up and walked around Florence! We had to take my dad to all of the must see spots, also he got to see my apartment, studio, and school! Our quick tour was leading us to Gustas pizza which was one of Denises must haves in her few days here! After that i had to go to class, so my mom and dad went to the Uffizi museum. After class we went to one of Rachels soccer games. She is on one of Kents intramural teams and they play different schools every week. Unfortunately that game would be her last because it was a play off game and they lost but it was fun to see! You had Rachel who played college level soccer for a few years out on the field with people who have never played soccer in their lives! After the game we went to my moms favorite restaurant from her last trip where the owners were beyond excited to see her! We had a great meal with lots of wine and then went down the street for dessert! After our conversation had ended at our last stop it was already past midnight so we went our separate ways to go get some sleep!
Wednesday we went to a rooftop cafe for breakfast. It is on the top of a department store in the Piazza Della Republica and from the top you get an amazing view of the duomo, and the surrounding mountains. After breakfast we did some much needed shopping in the leather markets. I got a few bags for a good price and same with my mom, my dad had some things that he wanted in mind but he did not like the atmosphere of the leather markets, so I took him to my friend Marco who works in Sabani and sold me my leather jacket. Well let me tell you, we hit the jack pot there! We got two bags, a wallet, and i think 7 keychains! And as usual Marco was amazing and as sweet as can be. What first attracted me to that store is the fact that there is a Miami Redhawks Flag in the one window! So i got to add my name to the flag this time! After shopping we went to the Palazzo Vecchio museum, because my dad REALLY wanted to go in this museum to reenact a photo from the movie, Inforno. So we set him up to the tee at the perfect spot and snapped away. We took at least 50 pics when he only change his pose so slightly I think he would be the only one to notice a difference! I took them to Zara for dinner since It had an outdoor seating space. My dad was amazed by these little cubes that restraints set up outside and fill with heaters and blankets! So I took them there knowing it had one of these! The food was good as usual and we ended the night by walking by the Duomo one last time to pick up a bottle of wine! We had the wine in their hotel room and played some cards!
Thursday was our last day together and I only had them till 11:30! So we got up early and went to a place called milkeria for breakfast! We had some crepes, then off to the airport they went! it was a great few days but it went way to fast! But it’s officially only 35 days till I see them again! And I can’t wait!
