Dublin Here I Come!

I am currently sitting in the airport but oh was it a journey to this point!. I took a train from Florence to Milan then took a bus to Bergamo airport which is about 45 minutes from the train station. Then slept in a pod for the night then to only wake up and catch my flight to Dublin Ireland in the morning!!!!! (Pictures of the pod and Ireland are to come) Let me tell you, public transportation is one amazing thing, but it’s also VERY entertaining. I sat with one headphone in my ear switching back and forth between Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Christmas music. But I just watched the people around me! I sat directly across from two ADORABLE like 75 year old men who I’m not kidding, had a suitcase full of potato chips and sandwiches! It was quite a sight to see! Then you see the few people who come on with huge suitcases that are wrapped in plastic wrap and tape. And I can’t help but to laugh imagining them unwrapping their suitcases later! The fastest the train went is 300km/hr which for us US people that the metric system means absolutely nothing to, that is 186.4 miles per hour! After my train ride I had about 45 minutes to spare before I caught my bus. So I decided to do grab food somewhere so I could also use their bathroom. Bathrooms aren't free in italy so I have to take advantage of getting food to go use the toilet. So i headed over to burger king to grab something quick. I ordered my first Whopper ever! People never believe me when I say I've never had a big mac or something like I've never had a whopper. But i can mark that one off my list.
I got to my bus 10 minutes early for the bus to get there ten minutes late! So i waited in a line about 15 people long for awhile. When the bus arrived 12 out of the 15 of us didn't print the ticket for the bus, and just had it on their phone. The directions clearly said to print your ticket, so me and 2 other people ended up being the only people on this huge bus!!! But after about 45 minutes I made it to the airport and found my Pod for the night! I had a long night in my pod. I would definitely stay in one again, but it was HOT. I paid an extra 5 euros to stay till 8 am instead of 6am since my flight isn't until 10:20. At 6:30 i was so cold but felt like i had reached heaven because so many of the pods had cleared out by then! This is an exciting trip for me not only because I will be meeting my parents in Ireland, but it was my first trip I am taking by myself. I know that would make many people nervous but all of our professors have said we should travel at least somewhere by ourselves. Even though I have been on a plane by myself before this is quite the haul taking a train, then a bus, then a flight! I’m doing all of this because this airport has a cheap direct flight to Dublin! If I left from Florence I would be paying A LOT more money for a flight that left at 6:30am and had a 4.5 hour layover. To then take another 2 hour flight and not land in Dublin till 3 pm! With the flight I am on, I am taking a 2 hour and 15 minute direct flight to Dublin, and even with my train ticket, bus ticket, and pod reservation I’m saving about 60€! But this week was definitely a pretty good week! But homesickness has definitely been setting in! Florence has started putting up holiday decorations and store windows are being filled with Christmas tree and lights! So I started to think about what I really miss from Home besides my family, friends, and pets! And one thing that instantly came to mind is driving! At this point in the semester I would’ve driven home several times and I definitely use that time to destress! I blast some music and sing and just drive my 5 hours Home and honestly it is a great way to relieve stress! But I’ve made up for it by using my beats pill while I’m showering and since it’s officially November, I jam to some Christmas music for the 10 minutes I Shower everyday.

Well that’s all I have for you! For those of you that catch my typos (Bree) I apologize. Im typing either when I'm half awake or normally when i have a few minutes before class, OR I type it the night before it actually gets posts so then I go through and try to make tense changes quickly, but often miss stuff.. So I don't ever really proof read these things. But Bree has been on my butt about it. So I'm working on it! Ciao!
