EuroChocolate Festival

Well as the weekend continued down the same path, Thursday we got an email that our trip was cancelled to the chocolate festival! So at 11pm last night I had to reschedule through a different bus company. I was a little hesitant at first because it was a little more expensive than my initial trip and debated if I should just plan my travel independently. I paid 45 euros for the entire day! But i was happy to figure out that I definitely made the right decision!

It was 34 euros to book the train, then you had to pay to travel from the actual train station, then when you got on site there was a card called the ChocoCard that you took around to the booths and you got free take away. That was 8 euros.

But with my 45 euros all of this was included! We took a bus to the site, then a mini metro to the top of the hill! The mini metro was quite the experience, it was a TINY little tram, smaller than the train in the Pittsburgh airport, MUCH smaller! They crammed all of us inside this little train and took us to the top of the hill where you could literally smell the Coco when you got out! Once we got there all guide gave us our chococard which was pretty fun, it was like a scavenger hunt for freebies! On the card there were the names of the booths where you could get your freebies! So our first walk through we just were just window shopping for the most part! Then we looped back through and searched for our booths on our cards, then we took one more lap through and made a few purchases! In all honesty there wasn't really a need to buy much since we got so many freebies! So I only bought a bar of chocolate!

It was definitely a great way to spend the day and to anyone studying abroad next fall I would recommend it! That means a lot coming from me... who back home can't consume a Hershey bar. Chocolate has never been my thing but the chocolate in Europe has been pretty good. It was cool getting to attend something that only lasts 9 days and happens only once a year and seems to be a pretty big deal in this country!
